Do Stuff Yourself!!! (think… can I do this on my own)

DIY – Easy Way To Save Your $$$$

DIY stands for Do It Yourself and is very popular among home depot credit card holders and handy people.  I’m not handy…  Never have been and probably never will be.  However, I like saving money a lot more than I like spending it.  You heard me… the DREAM WIFE!  A wife that wants to save money more than spend it.

Not to toot my own horn, but I’m a saving machine.  My husband loves me for it.  He works hard, but I work harder.  The other day I have a cleaning lady come over to give me a quote on a house cleaning.  She was local and a really nice lady.  I gave her a quick tour of the house expecting her to come back with a reasonable price.  She came back with $160 and said it would take approximately 6 hours for her to clean the house.  She would do a deep clean on all the bathrooms, rugs, carpeting and kitchen.  $160… for 6 hours that’s about $27 per hour.  Most jobs out of college don’t pay that much!  I told her that I appreciated her fair cleaning quote, but I was going to do it myself.  If you need house cleaning help click here for her website.  Danbury House Cleaning I think it was called.  She’s got a good bunch of solid references from local homeowners who’ve had their homes cleaned.

Your 100% correct if you think that cleaning my house for 6 hours non-stop would be the last thing I’d ever want to put myself through.  However, the fact of the matter is that saving that $160 is like paying myself $27 an hour.  I’m literally getting paid not to spend money.  You gotta Save Dat Money!!! – right??

Save Dat Money!!!

Save Your $$$$

First thing you need to do is figure out how to save money.  If you make money, spend money and then have nothing you’re not going to get ahead.  Sure, if you can make more and more money, but then you’ll always be put in a similar situation of which you need to start saving money.  I try my best to start with lean and mean business expenses.

Business expenses… I know that strikes fear into the heart of many moms around the world.

Don’t worry!!!  We aren’t starting a business.  I just honestly couldn’t find better wording then “business expenses”.

So, figure out how you can save ASAP.

Start now.  Lets say that your husband budgets you $500 a month which barely affords you everything you need for your kids.  Take $50 away and put in your shoebox at the start of the month.  Just do it.  Don’t think about it.  Just do it!!!  It’s called the small plate syndrome.  Before long you won’t even notice it.  Trust me – you’ll make it work.  We’re women, we always make things work.  Moms can just kind of hang with that.  I’d love to see my husband try to eat off a small plate.  That would be something else!

OK so $50 in a shoebox every month.

Got it.  Simple right…
